KING

Knowing Jesus Christ, who He truly is in reality, is not something one should take lightly.  It would be like dismissing the severity of Eve's (and Adam's) actions in the Garden of Eden as “just biting an apple.”  We all know how that worked out.  Similarly, not investing the time and energy to know the true nature of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords will likewise produce an unwanted consequence - an eternity in hell.  Jesus clearly stated in Matthew 16:21-23 the following: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.”

A lot of people, including a slew of “church attendees,” are trudging through their lives betting their eternity on a half-truth concerning the Lord (please note:  there is no such thing as a half-truth.  Either something is true or it is not true. There exists zero gray areas when it comes to truth.  If it it is not true, then it is a lie). Those individuals continue to see Him as a meek and weak Lamb who was slaughtered on our behalf, and, according to some religious constructs, He continues to hang on the cross to be crucified again and again.  No, no, no.  A thousand times “No.”  To begin with, Jesus proclaimed on the cross, “It is finished,” highlighting the truth that Golgotha was a one-off.  Additionally, once He arose from the grave, defeating death in the process, He then ascended into heaven and sat down at the right hand of the Father.  At that moment, He was no longer the meek Lamb who entered this world in real time and space, not to be served, but to serve (Matthew 20:28).  He now became the Lion of the Tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5), who exercises the complete authority in heaven and on earth that had been given to Him in Matthew 28:18.  He was, and is, and is to come the true King who reigns over all creation!

Although Jesus entered Jerusalem as a humble Lamb on the back of a donkey, in the twinkling of an eye, He is going to return as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, full of wrath and vengeance, while riding on a white horse!  As it states in Revelation 10:11-16:  “Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:

“KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Death will come for us all. It's inevitable.  Everyone will bow before the true King one day.  Therefore, on the day that you bow before Him, will you be able to honestly say that you know Him?

Romans 10:8 reveals “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”  Just as salvation is a gift (notice I didn't say “free gift.”  Salvation comes with a price.  It cost God His only Son), an eternity in hell is earned (“For the wages of sin is death…” ~ Romans 6:23)..  Either destination will involve a quality decision (acceptance or rejection) by you whether to call heaven or hell your eternal home.  A choice that is yours alone to make.  No other person can make it for you.  Therefore, I would like to echo the words Joshua used when talking to the children of Israel:

”And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”              ~Joshua 24:15
